Recombinant protein corresponding to human Glycophorin A.
CD235a recognizes a 39kD sialoglycoprotein identified as glycophorin A. It is abundantly expressed on red blood cells and erythroid presursor cells. It has been shown that glycophorin acts on the erythrocyte binding antigen (EBA-175) of P. falciparum as well as the receptor for Sandei virus, parvovirus, influenza virus and hepatitis A virus. Two types of glylocophorins are indentified and classified as glycophorin A (GPA) and glycophorin B (GPB). Both are trans-membrane sialoglycoproteins. GPA is the career of M and N antigens specific blood group whereas GPB is for the S and U specificities. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 5ul is found sufficient for staining 1 million RBCs in 100ul staining volume Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: APC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
