LTA, also known as lymphotoxin alpha and tumor necrosis factor beta, belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family. It is highly inducible, secreted, and forms heterotrimers with lymphotoxin beta which anchor lymphotoxin alpha to the cell surface. It is expressed by activated naive CD4 cells, unpolarized IL2 secreting effectors, and Th1 effectors and mediates a large variety of inflammatory, immunostimulatory, and antiviral responses. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa35-205 from human LTA, fused to His-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in insect cell. Molecular Weight: ~19.7kD (180aa) 18-28KD (SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.) The ED50 for this effect is 1ng/ml. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
