Envelope glycoprotein that forms spikes at the surface of virion envelope. Essential for the initial attachment to heparan sulfate moities of the host cell surface proteoglycans. Involved in fusion of viral and cellular membranes leading to virus entry into the host cell. Following initial binding to its host receptors, membrane fusion is mediated by the fusion machinery composed at least of gB and the heterodimer gH/gL. May be involved in the fusion between the virion envelope and the outer nuclear membrane during virion egress. Source: Partial recombinant protein corresponding to aa23-279 from Human herpesvirus 2 Envelope glycoprotein B, fused to His-SUMO-Tag at N-terminal, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~44.4kD Amino Acid Sequence: APAAPAAPRASGGVAATVAANGGPASRPPPVPSPATTKARKRKTKKPPKRPEATPPPDANATVAAGHATLRAHLREIKVENADAQFYVCPPPTGATVVQFEQPRRCPTRPEGQNYTEGIAVVFKENIAPYKFKATMYYKDVTVSQVWFGHRYSQFMGIFEDRAPVPFEEVIDKINTKGVCRSTAKYVRNNMETTAFHRDDHETDMELKPAKVATRTSRGWHTTDLKYNPSRVEAFHRYGTTVNCIVEEVDARSVYPY Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from 20mM Tris-HCl, 0.5M sodium chloride, pH 8.0, 6% trehalose. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O to a concentration of 0.1-1mg/ml.
