Involved in the regulation of melanogenesis. The binding of ASP to MC1R precludes alpha-MSH initiated signaling and thus blocks production of cAMP, leading to a down-regulation of eumelanogenesis (brown/black pigment) and thus increasing synthesis of pheomelanin (yellow/red pigment). Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa23-133 from bovine ASIP, fused to His-SUMO-Tag at N-terminal, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~28.4kD Amino Acid Sequence: HLAPEEKPRDERNLKNNSSMNLLDFPSVSIVALNKKSKKISRNEAEKKKRPSKRKAPMKNVARTRPPPPTPCVATRDSCKPPAPACCDPCAFCQCRFFRSACSCRVLNPTC Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
