6-O-Methyl-2,4-bis-O-(trimethylsilyl)-erythromycin 9-[2-(Triphenylmethyl)hydrazone] is an intermediate in the synthesis of 12-O-Methyl Clarithromycin which is a methylated impurity of the semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic Clarithromycin (C559750). 12-O-Methyl Clarithromycin was shown to inhibit uptake of Clarithromycin into the lung cells.
