Abridin is isolated from seed extracts of Abrus precatorius. Also, it is derived from Bisnorcholenaldehyde (B508830), which can be used to prepare 27-Nor-delta4-dafachronic acid as a synthetic ligand of Caenorhabditis elegans DAF-12 receptor. It is also used to synthesize 3beta,6alpha-dihydroxy-5alpha-cholan-23-one. Also, it is related to the parent compound Progesterone (P755900), which is a teroid hormone produced by the corpus luteum. Induces maturation and secretory activity of the uterine endothelium, suppresses ovulation. Progesterone is implicated in the etiology of breast cancer. This compound is a contaminant of emerging concern (CECs). Molecular Formula: C25H36O2 Molecular Weight: 368.55 Storage and Stability: Store at -20C.
