Polypyrrole is a reactant used to synthesize an eco-friendly cellulose-derived carbon aerogels. The polypyrrole is a natural compound that belongs to the family of polymers. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the infectious disease, pandemic influenza, and transfer reactions in bacteria. Polypyrrole has also been shown to inhibit ATP-binding cassette transporter (ABC) by binding to the protein in the cell membrane. This binding prevents ATP from entering the cell, thereby blocking energy production. X-ray crystal structures have shown that polypyrrole binds at two sites on the ABC transporter: one site on a transmembrane domain and another site on an extracellular loop.
