sFRP-2, also known as secreted apoptosis-related protein 1, is a member of the SFRP family that contains a cysteine-rich domain homologous to the putative Wnt-binding site of frizzled proteins. Soluble frizzled-related proteins (sFRPS) function as modulators of Wnt signaling through direct interaction with Wnts. sFRP-2 can exert either positive or negative effects on Wnt signaling. At physiological concentrations, it also inhibits BMP-induced effects. It plays a variety of roles during tissue morphogenesis including inhibition of the planar cell polarity pathway and myoblast and osteoblast differentiation. It is also expressed in multiple myeloma and glioma in which it promotes tumorigenicity. Recombinant protein corresponding to aa25-295 from mouse sFRP-2, fused to His-Tag at C-terminal, expressed in Baculovirus.
