GSL II is affinity purified tetramer that contains a single type of 30kD subunit. It has insecticidal structure/function, the first GlcNAc binding legume lectin proven to have insecticidal activity. This lectin has a carbohydrate specificity for alphaGal and alphaGalNAc and elutes with galactose or N-acetylgalactosamine. Increasing the number of N-acetylglucosamine residues beyond two does not improve affinity. It has been reported to be unique in its ability to recognize exclusively alpha- or beta-linked N-acetylglucosamine residues on the nonreducing terminal oligosaccharides. This lectin shows specificity for blood group A(-SA) greater than blood group B(-SA). Source: Bandeiraea Carbohydrate Specificity: alpha-N-Acetylglucosamine, beta-N-Acetylglucosamine Inhibitory Carbohydrate: N-Acetylglucosamine Divalent Ions: Ca++, Mn++ Activity: 5-10ug/mlwill agglutinates Tk polyagglutinable cells Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
