Deoxaphomin is a member of the cytochalasin family, first isolated and elucidated by Binder and Tamm, Basel University, Switzerland in 1973. Deoxaphomin is a potently active phytotoxin and antifungal. Deoxaphomin inhibits root elongation in wheat and tomato seedlings and is toxic to the perennial weeds, Cirsium arvense and Sonchus arvensis.
