N-Methylcanadine is an isoquinoline alkaloid isolated from a number of plant species including Corydalis, Fagara and Zanthoxylum. N-Methylcanadine, a precursor of noscapine biosynthesis in the opium poppy, is a major active constituent in the Papaveraceae family.
