Aspergillusidone E is a member of the nidulin family of fungal metabolites metabolites first isolated from a marine sponge Aspergillus unguis only when cultured on PDB media containing KBr. Aspergillusidone E is the corresponding bromodepsidone derivative of 2-chlorounguinol. Aspergillusidone E exhibits weak cytotoxic activity against a range of cell lines and aromatase inhibitory activity with IC50 1µM.
