Turonicin is an amphoteric linear polyene polyketide related to linearmycins isolated from Streptomyces sp. Turonicin features independent pentaene and tetraenone chromophores. Turonicin A exhibits very potent activity against C. albicans (MIC 0.0031 ug/mL) and S. cerevisiae (MIC 0.0008 ug/mL) and moderate activity against Gram-positive bacteria, with no cytotoxicity against human fibroblasts.
