Capricostatin A is a major analogue of a parallel series of analogues of geministatin A, a recently described depside antibiotic isolated from the fungus Austroacremonium gemini. Capricostatin A contains a delta15,16 double bond in the C15 side-chain and is the delta18,19 dihydro analogue of geministatin A. Capricostatin A exhibits potent antibacterial activity and no cytotoxic activity.
