The ABC transporters are a large family of conserved proteins that transport a wide variety of molecules across cellular membranes. ABCA1 is a member of the ABCA subfamily, which acts as a lipid translocator. The molecule was originally identified as a scavenger receptor on macrophages and research shows that ABCA1 also plays a major role in cholesterol metabolism. ABCA1 may play an important role in protecting against cardiovascular disease. Mutations in ABCA1 gene have been associated with Tangiers disease, a genetic disorder of lipid metabolism, and familial high density lipoprotein (HDL) deficiency. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunofluorescence. Not recommended for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: APC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
