Adenovirus 5 belongs to Adenoviridae, a family of viruses with at least 51 serotypes that cause a variety of illnesses, mostly being upper respiratory tract infections. Adenoviridae are dsDNA viruses and are the largest non-enveloped viruses. This item is produced from virus particles that are disrupted by gentle heat and detergent to release hexon from other capsid proteins. The antigen is native and has not been sequenced, but is produced from wild-type Adenovirus type 5. A0880-03L has been run on a SDS-PAGE gel in denaturing conditions where a band is localized at the expected MW. The hexon naturally undergoes a certain amount of self-assembly and when the purified protein is diluted out, it does dilute very quickly suggesting that the protein is grouping together. Although this suggests that the pure protein is self assembling into possible trimers to a certain extent, we are unable able to state with certainty that it is in a trimeric form Inactivation: This product has been rendered inactive by standard procedures. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C before opening. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4C as an undiluted liquid for 6 months after receipt. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Note: No test guarantees a product to be non-infectious. All materials should be handled as if potentially infectious. Generally accepted laboratory practices appropriate for infectious materials should be employed when handling this product.
