ARSB is a lysosomal enzyme of the sulfatase family that functions as an N-acetylgalactosamine-4-sulfatase (1). The enzyme is also active against chondroitin sulfate and dermatan sulfate (2). Deficiencies in ARSB activity are responsible for the lysosomal storage disease mucopolysaccharidosis Type VI, also known as Maroteaux-Lamy Syndrome (3). CHO-derived recombinant protein corresponding to Ser37-Met533 from human arylsulfatase B, fused to a C-terminal 10X His-Tag. Biological Activity: Measured by its ability to hydrolyze the substrate 4-Nitrocatechol Sulfate (PNCS). Specific activity: > 3,000 pmoles/min/ug. Storage and Stability: Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -70C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
