Isolation of Candida sp. BiGGY Agar was formulated by Nickerson. Bismuth sulfite inhibits bacterial growth without affecting the growth of Candida. Candida sp. reduce the bismuth sulfite and produce pasty brown to black colonies. C. albicans produce characteristic colonial morphologies and can be differentiated from other Candida species.
