Brilliant Green 2% Bile Broth is used to confirm the presence of coliforms. Oxbile and Brilliant Green inhibit Gram positive bacteria and many Gram negative bacteria other than coliforms. Lactose is a carbohydrate source. Bacteria that ferment lactose and produce gas are detected. This medium is formulated according to AOAC specifications. Storage and Stability: Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4C and used within a short period of time. Appearance: Light greenish beige, homogeneous, free flowing powder. Solubility: Greenish Beige, complete pH (4% at 25C): 7.20.2
