Lectins are derived from the extracts of plants, animals, viruses and microorganisms and are known to agglutinate red blood cells. These agglutinins can select cell types according to blood group activities utilizing sugar-binding mechanisms. Lectins form precipitates with glycoconjugates and are useful for identifying or separating oligosaccharides with identical sugar compositions such as galactose, mannose or glucose. Quality Control: SDS-PAGE Activity: Con A is a relatively weak blood agglutinin. >10ug/ml may be required to give visible agglutination of neuraminidase treated human erythrocytes. Carbohydrate Specificity: a-D-Mannose, a-D-Glucose, Branched mannose Inhibitoty Carbohydrate: Methyl a-D-Mannopyranoside >> a-D-Mannose >> a-D-Glucose. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. HRP conjugates are sensitive to light. Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
Formulierung: Supplied as a liquid in 0.05M Tris, pH 7.1, 0.15M sodium chloride, 0.004M CaCl2. Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP).
