| Cardiolipin is an important component of the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it constitutes about 20% of the total lipid composition. The name 'cardiolipin is derived from the fact that it was first found in beef heart in the early 1940s. In mammalian cells, cardiolipin (CL) is found almost exclusively in the inner mitochondrial membrane where it is essential for the optimal function of numerous enzymes that are involved in mitochondrial energy metabolism. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher Autoantibody Activity: Anti-Cardiolipin Activity by ELISA: As Reported (lot-specific). Current lot value: 13GPL/ml Interpretation of Results: >12GPL/ml: Positive Other Autoantibody Activity in the Serum (by ELISA): SSA: 33EU/ml SSB: 9EU/ml SCL: 18EU/ml SM: 7EU/ml Sm/RNP: 11EU/ml Jo-1: 31EU/ml Interpretation of ELISA Results: <16 EU/ml: Negative, 16-20EU/ml: Equivocal, Positive, >20 EU/ml Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. |
