Cathepsin B is a cysteine protease commonly overexpressed in metastisizing cancer cells. An intracellular (lysosomal) enzyme in peptidase family C1 (papain family), Cathepsin B will hydrolyze proteins with broad specificity for peptide bonds. Preferentially cleaves -Arg-Arg bonds in small molecule substrates (thus differing from cathepsin L). In addition to being an endopeptidase, shows peptidyl-dipeptidase activity, liberating C-terminal dipeptides. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA (Indirect): 1:1024 Western Blot: 1:4000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
