CD49f is the 150kD integrin alpha6 chain which associates noncovalently with the integrin beta1 subunit (CD29) and with the integrin beta4 (CD104) chain to form, respectively, the very late antigen-6 (VLA-6) and alpha6beta4 integrin heterodimers. VLA-6 is expressed on thymocytes, T lymphocytes, monocytes and platelets. CD49f/CD29 expression is upregulated on activated T lymphocytes and memory T cells. VLA-6 serves as the laminin receptor on platelets, monocytes and T cells. VLA-6-mediated binding to laminin provides a costimulatory signal to T cells for activation and proliferation.1-3 Applications: Flow cytometry Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections) Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 10ul/10e6 cells Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable at -20C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
