CD49f can form distinct complexes with either the CD29-antigen (VLA beta-chain), resulting in the VLA-6 (alpha-6 beta-1) complex, which is expressed on human platelets, or with the beta-4 integrin resulting in the alpha-6 beta-4 complex which is expressed on various human epithelial cells. Platelet VLA-6 functions as a laminin receptor. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): Reacts with epithelial cells of a variety of tissues, peripheral nerves, microvascular endothelial cells, placenta cyto- and syncytiotrophoblasts. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. IHC Postive Control: Human Tonsil Hybridoma: Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from immunized Sprague-Dawley rats. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable at -20C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
