CD59 (protectin) is a small (18-20kD) GPI-anchored ubiquitously expressed inhibitor of the membrane attack complex (MAC). It is thus the key regulator that preserves the autologous cells from terminal effector mechanism of the complement cascade. CD59 associates with C5b-8 complex and thereby counteracts appropriate formation of cytolytic pore within the plasma membrane. CD59 is also an low-affinity ligand of human CD2 and causes T cell costimulation. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml, Non-reducing conditions Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 5ug/ml Flow Cytometry: 0.5-4ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Mouse spleen Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
