CHOP is a small nuclear protein that is capable of dimerizing with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. Once dimerized, this complex inhibits the normal binding and function of C/EBP to classical binding sites. Inversely, the C/EBP-CHOP dimer gains binding activity to other non-classical C/EBP stress related targets. Under normal cellular conditions this protein is not expressed in detectable levels, but is highly unregulated during times of cellular/ER stress. Examples of CHOP inducing stress include: treatment with tunicamycin, nutrient starvation and reducing agents that interfere with the calcium flux across the ER membrane. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry, ChIP, Immunohistochemistry, Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence, and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence: 1:100 Immunohistochemistry: 1:100 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:100 Immunoprecipitation: 1:10-1:500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
