Factor P is a 53kD glycosylated protein present in blood serum. Factor P binds to microbial surfaces and binds and stabilizes the complement component 3- and complement component 5-convertase enzyme complexes. C3b then acts as an opsonin or initiates the complement pathway again creating a positive feedback loop which acts only on the bacterial cell, leaving the host cells unharmed. Deficiency of factor P makes the host more susceptible to bacterial infections, particularly to Neisseria species and meningococcal infections. Applications: Suitable for use in FLISA, Functional Assays, Flow Cytometry and Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: Frozen sections Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Recommended Positive Control: Kidney from post strepoccal glomerulonephritis patients Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: PE conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
