Epiregulin is an EGF related growth factor that binds specifically to EGFR (ErbB1) and ErbB4, but not ErbB2 or ErbB3. It is expressed mainly in the placenta and peripheral blood leukocytes and in certain carcinomas of the bladder, lung, kidney and colon. Epiregulin stimulates the proliferation of keratinocytes, hepatocytes, fibroblasts and vascular smooth muscle cells. It also inhibits the growth of several tumor-derived epithelial cell lines. Human Epiregulin is initially synthesized as a glycosylated 19.0kD transmembrane precursor protein, which is processed by proteolytic cleavage to produce a 6.0kD mature secreted sequence. Recombinant human Epiregulin is a 6kD monomeric protein, containing 50 amino residues, which corresponds to the mature secreted Epiregulin sequence. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder. Reconstitute with sterile ddH20 to 0.1-1mg/ml. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
