Human Haptoglobin, produced from pooled human plasma, exists in three common phenotypes, Hp 1-1, Hp 2-1, Hp 2-2 with a molecular mass ranging from 8kD-200kD. It is a glycoprotein which is synthesized in the liver and circulating in the blood. Reduced levels seen in hemolysis and impaired liver function. High levels are a marker for acute or chronic inflammation. Appearance: White to off-white powder Solubility: Colorless to faint yellow, clear to slightly hazy at 10mg/ml in dH2O. Protein by UV Absorbance: 50% Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
