General purpose nutritive medium. Heart Infusion Broth medium is prepared from an infusion of beef heart. The first media used for the cultivation of bacteria was prepared from meat infusions. Huntoon showed that pathogenic microorganisms could be grown from infusion agar without enrichments. Appearance: Light beige, homogeneous, free flowing powder. Solubility: Light to medium amber, clear, complete. pH (2.5%): 7.40.2 Microbiological Analysis: Escherichia coli ATCC 25922: Growth Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923: Growth Streptococcus pneumonia ATCC 6305: Growth Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC 19615: Growth Storage and Stability: Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4C and used within a short period of time.
