Influenza virus is a single-stranded RNA virus, segmented, 70nm in diameter, and enveloped. Strains are described by geographic origin, strain number, year of isolation, hemagglutination (H) and neuraminidase (N) antigens. It is an acute viral disease of the upper respiratory tract characterized by fever, headache, chills, myalgia, weakness, runny nose and sore throat. Cough can be severe. Nausea and vomiting are uncommon. Fatality is generally low, excempt for those with chronic lung or heart conditions. Applications: Suitable for use in Indirect Immunofluorescence. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Indirect Immunofluorescence: 1:100-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
