Influenza B virus is a member of the Orthomyxoviridae family which cause acute respiratory illnesses in humans. Influenza B is a single stranded RNA virus which is morphologically similar to the Influenza A virus. Influenza B has a low host range (humans and seals) and slow mutation rate, which although enough to prevent lasting immunity, prevents Influenza B from causing pandemics. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: Indirect or Direct Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
