Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor that stimulates the growth and survivability of certain B cells and T cells. Recombinant mouse IL-6 is a 21.7kD protein containing 187 amino acid residues, expressed in E. coli. Biological Activity: IL-6 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50 was determined by its ability to stimulate the proliferation of IL-6 dependent murine 7TD1 cells and is 0.02ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 5x10e7 units/mg. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or ddH2O, with 0.1% BSA. Aliquot and store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
