Kallikrein 2 (KLK2) is a secreted serine protease that is highly expressed in the human prostate gland. It is also known as the prostatespecific glandular kallikrein. The enzyme is highly specific for cleavage after arginine residues. KLK2 is able to activate the urokinasetype plasminogen activator. KLK2 is inhibited by serpins such as protein C inhibitor, antichymotrypsin, and plasminogen activator inhibitor 1. KLK2 is structurally related to KLK3, the prostatespecific antigen (PSA). Like PSA, KLK2 is considered to be a biomarker for prostate cancer. Source: Murine myeloma cell line, NS0-derived Met1-Pro261, with a C-terminal 10His tag. SDS-PAGE: 34kD & 15-18kD, reducing conditions Activity: Measured by its ability to cleave a flourogenic peptide substrate Pro-Phe-Arg-7-amido-4-methylcoumarin (PFR-AMC). Specific Activity: 125pmoles/min/ug. Storage and Stability: For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and freeze at -70C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months.
