Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of at least 20 structurally related, zinc-containing enzymes that have the ability to breakdown connective tissue. MMP-1 is also known as collagenase, fibroblast collagenase and interstitial collagenase. MMP-1 has shown substrate specificity to collagens I, II, III, VII. VIII and X, aggrecan, versican, tenascin, casein, gelatin, alpha1-antitrypsin, myelin basic protein, L-selectin, pro-TNF, IL-1beta, pro-MMP-2 and pro-MMP-9 directly and indirectly by activating other MMPs. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:3000-1:8000 Immunohistochemistry: 2ug/ml on frozen and paraffin embedded sections. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
