S100A3 is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation. S100A3 binds calcium with low affinity and zinc with high affinity and is believed to play a role in the calcium-dependent differentiation of cuticle cells and in the formation of hair shafts. Purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. Source: Recombinant corresponding to aa1-101 of human S100A3, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, expressed in E.coli.
