A 13aa peptide sequence near the center of human Slug.
Slug, a member of the Snail family of zinc finger transcription factors, whose expression is induced by FGF, BMP, and TGF-b, is a 29kD transcriptional repressor, which functions by binding to E-box motifs and inhibiting gene expression by recruiting histone deacetylase-1 (HDAC-1). Slug controls the expression of a wide variety of genes including TP53, BRCA2, PUM and CDH1, and has important roles in apoptosis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. It is also thought to function in neural crest development. Slug expression in breast, oesophageal, and colorectal carcinomas has been correlated with poor prognosis for survival. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Store product at 4C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable at -20C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
