A peptide isolated from the Caribbean Sea anemone, Stichodactyla heliantus. The 35 amino acid residue peptide is the most potent inhibitor of Kv1.1 and Kv1.3 potassium ion channels discovered to date. The peptide has been produced synthetically and its solution structure has been determined by NMR. Over 380 analogs have been synthesized to gain an understanding of how the peptide interacts with potassium ion channels and to improve its specificity for Kv1.3 potassium channels. AA Sequence (linear): Arg-Ser-Cys-Ile-Asp-Thr-Ile-Pro-Gln-Ser-Arg-Cys-Thr-Ala-Phe-Gln-Cys-Lys-His-Ser-Met-Lys-Tyr-Arg-Leu-Ser-Phe-Cys-Arg-Lys-Thr-Cys-Gly-Thr-Cys Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4C for short-term only. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute to nominal volume (see reconstitution instructions for peptides) and store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
