Recombinant protein corresponding to human TGF-alpha, expressed in E. coli.
TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor, and stimulates the proliferation of a wide range of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells. TGF-alpha induces anchorage-independence transformation in cultured cells. Human, murine and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive. TGFalpha (aa 50) is a growth factor with 33% homology to EGF, binds to EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation of the receptor, and stimulates cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing the reversible transformed phenotype. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA (Sandwich): 0.25-1ug/ml (using 100ul/well antibody solution) in conjunction with T8250-03C as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2-0.4ng/well of recombinant human TGFa. Western Blot: 0.1-0.2ug/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant human TGFa is 1.5-3ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. Optimal working dilutions to be determined by researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O, 0.1% BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, pH 7.4. No preservative added. Labeled with Biotin. Reconstitute with sterile PBS, 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1mg/ml.
