Human troponin complex
Troponin, working in conjunction with tropomyosin, functions as a molecular switch, regulating muscle contraction in response to changes in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Troponin consists of three subunits, the Ca2+-binding subunit troponin C (TnC), the tropomyosin-binding subunit troponin T (TnT), and the inhibitory subunit troponin I (TnI). Troponin I binds to actin in thin myofilaments to hold the actin-tropomyosin complex in place Because of which myosin can not bind the actin in relaxed muscle. When Calcium binds to the Troponin C it causes certain confirmational changes which leads to dislocation of troponin I and finally tropomyosin leaves the the binding site for myosin on actin leading to contraction of muscle. The letter I is given due to its inhibitory character. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Sandwich ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells of Balb/c mice. Recommended Pairs: Detection: T8665-16R Capture: T8665-16E Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
