Urea is the major end product of nitrogen metabolism and it is concentrated up to four times higher than that of plasma. A rapid, passive transport of urea through the membranes of the IMCD is responsible for generation of high urea concentration in the inner medullary interstitium. Recently, a vasopressin-sensitive urea transporter (UT2, 397aa) from rabbit and its homolog from rat (rUT2, 397aa) have been cloned. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:100,000 using 50-100ng control peptide/well. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
