Applications: Suitable for use as a Protein standard in 1D and 2D SDS gel electrophoresis, in Immunoassays and for Immunization. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Reconstitution to filaments: After vimentin is dissolved, protofilaments and filament complexes are obtained by dialyzing the resulting polypeptide solution stepwise to a concentration of 4M urea and then to low salt condition (50mM sodium chloride, 2mM dithiothreitol, 10mM sodium phosphate, pH 7.4). For immunization purposes, the solution can be further dialyzed against PBS (phosphate buffered saline, e.g. Dulbeccos PBS). Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
