Immunogen: Vitamin D Binding Protein from human plasma.
Vitamin D BP (VitD BP), also called VDB, DBP, Group Specific Component (Gc) or macrophage-activating factor (DBP- or Gc-MAF), is a member of the albumin family. These plasma/body fluid proteins have a conserved pattern of cysteine motifs that form binding domains. VitD BP is predominantly produced by hepatic parenchymal cells. It transports VitD, activates macrophages and osteoclasts, and enhances C5a chemotactic activity. Over 80 variant alleles have been identified, some of which correlate with osteoporosis or prostate cancer. Human and mouse VitD BP share 78% aa identity. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1ug/ml using human plasma-derived Vitamin D BP Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
