Vitellogenin from plasma of 17beta-estradiol treated striped bass.
Vitellogenin (Vg) is an egg yolk precursor protein expressed in female fish, dormant in male fish and female insects, but in the presence of estrogenic endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs), males can express the Vg gene in a dose dependent manner. The use of Vg gene expression in male fish can be used as a molecular marker of exposure to estrogenic EDCs. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:100-1:1000 Western Blot: 1:50-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
