Tat-betasyn-degron is a blood brain barrier and plasma membrane permeable alpha-synuclein knockdown peptide which can reduce the level of alpha-synuclein by proteasomal degradation. Tat-betasyn-degron decreases alpha-synuclein aggregates and microglial activation in an alpha-synuclein preformed fibril model of spreading synucleinopathy in transgenic mice overexpressing human A53T alpha-synuclein, and reduces alpha-synuclein levels and significantly decreases the neuronal damage and motor impairment in a mouse toxicity model of Parkinsons disease.
