Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1), also known as retinal dehydrogenase 1, is the second enzyme of the major oxidative pathway of alcohol metabolism. Two major liver isoforms of this enzyme, cytosolic and mitochondrial, can be distinguished by their electrophoretic mobilities, kinetic properties, and subcellular localizations. ALDH1A1 also belongs to the group of corneal crystallins that help maintain the transparency of the cornea. (Retinal + NAD+ + H2O = retinoate + NADH) Recombinant ALDH1A1 protein was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. Applications: Suitable for use in SDS-PAGE, Enzyme Activity. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
