Involved in the first step of the non-oxidative branch of the pentose phosphate pathway. It catalyzes the reversible conversion of ribose-5-phosphate to ribulose 5-phosphate. Can also act on D-ribose-5-diphosphate and D-ribose-5-triphosphate as substrate. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-219 from E. coli rpiA, fused to GST-Tag at N-terminal, expressed in E. coli. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
