Activator of cell division through the inhibition of FtsZ GTPase activity, therefore promoting FtsZ assembly into bundles of protofilaments necessary for the formation of the division Z ring. It is recruited early at mid-cell but it is not essential for cell division. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-85 from bacillus pumilus zapA, fused to His-SUMO-Tag at N-terminal expressed in E. coli. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
