Confers resistance to the different beta-lactams antibiotics (penicillin, cephalosporin and carbapenem) via the hydrolysis of the beta-lactam ring. Does not confer resistance to the polymixin colistin or the fluoroquinolone ciprofloxacin. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa29-270 from Klebsiella pneumoniae Metallo-beta-lactamase type 2, fused to 6X His-Tag at N-terminal, expressed in E.coli. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
