H5.3 was generated from hybridomas created by fusing PBMCs (peripheral blood mononuclear cells) from human donors who had been previously received an A/Vietnam/1203/2004 H5N1 subunit vaccine with myeloma cells. The hybridoma cells were screened for those showing binding affinity for H5 HA.
